So far we have not had the most brilliant of summers, but with flower arrangers and gardeners alike the spirit of summer has carried us through. We have been fortunate to enjoy a couple of outings with Hanbury gardeners where we have been extremely lucky on both occasions to have good weather and enjoyable trips. Our own trip to York was certainly also enjoyed by all who attended, a lot of us looking around the city as well as inevitable retail therapy. The day concluded with a visit to the George Smith Gardens, he was such a gentleman with his greetings and talk. We all commented on how friendly he was.
Our President Janet Stone, and co-arrangers, produced a wonderful array of flowers at Rolleston Church which was much appreciated by all. Following on from Janet’s demonstration on 12th August entitled “Grandmas Day”, the club is pleased to be welcoming Jean Fordham again on 9th September with her demonstration “Touch of Silver”. Jean is looking forward to this event which forms a part of our extended demonstrations for our 25th anniversary year.
Continuing our demonstrations, on 14th October we will be visited by Carolyn Bates who’s theme is “Gardens in Time”. 11the November we shall be holding a flower arranging workshop.
The next major date for diaries is 20th November when Ian Buxton will be demonstrating a “silver Selection” in the Tutbury Village Hall.
We look forward to seeing you all at our club events which take place at Tutbury Institute commencing 7.30 pm on the second Wednesday of the month.
